Hopi Ear Candling, also known as Thermo Auricular Therapy, is a pleasant and non-invasive treatment of the ears, used to treat a variety of conditions.
Ear candles were traditionally used by Shamanic Healers. Their history can be traced back to the Indians of North and South America. Our modern day ear candles are tubes or cones made from woven cotton dipped in beeswax, with honey and medicinal herbs such as camomile. The candle is gently inserted into the ear, lit and gently held in place throughout. After the candles have burned down specific pressure points on the face and head are stimulated with gentle massage techniques to encourage lymph drainage and leave you feeling wonderfully relaxed.
Hopi ear candling is believed to encourage balance and cleansing within the whole body. The gentle heat from the candle stimulates blood flow to the head and neck, distributing oxygen and nutrients more effectively to the tissues. It also stimulates circulation of the lymph glands, encouraging toxin removal. The vibration of rising air gently massages the ear, drawing toxic residue from past infections gently up into the candle and out of the ear. The warmth also helps dry excess moisture within the ear and soften hardened ear wax.
Physically the treatment may help with sinus and lymphatic congestion, ear ache, glueear, headaches, allergy symptoms such as hay fever, balance problems, tinnitus, swollen glands and snoring. Psychologically it may help to reduce stress, encourage clearer thinking and help to improve concentration and alertness.
